About me

Hello!

I'm Rendra, a software engineer based in Jakarta. I work mostly with languages like JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, Python and Java . Very interested in learning with Go but many of my projects require JavaScript. Learning frameworks does not even take days nowadays, but just for the record, I worked on technologies like Next.js, Laravel, Codeigniter, Express.js and Java EE (as opposed to the newer Jakarta EE). I had my fair share of experience using JavaScript frontend technologies like Vue, React, Alpine and Of course, Vanilla JS. Directly manipulating DOM is much fun until you had to deal with state, eh?

I've been interested in software engineering since 2020, and landed my first engineering job in 2022. Here, We work on stock market apps. We work with Laravel and Flutter in the front, Python in the back, and connecting the two with a custom TCP protocol (performance is why we don't use HTTP). I wrote the TCP client for the Laravel side, replacing a legacy service that results in 10x performance gains.

I also helped with the implementation of Agile in the company. There wasn't really an established way to manage projects in the company, so implementing Agile means not only choosing a project management app, but also educating stakeholders and peers, and showing them that it brings benefits. We tried working with it, and after just a few weeks everyone likes it so much the whole company now uses Jira. (Some of you may argue whether using Jira is a good thing, 😂. Yeah, I tried Linear too). It brings clarity to a project, so for the first time, everyone can say with a very high confidence when a project will be finished.

On the side, I work on helping businesses streamlining their businesses. I'm currently building a Warehouse Management System for a large tires supplier in Indonesia, In 2025, I built a landing page for a car rental business and in 2023 I helped building an ERP. I'll work on a church website in the near future. I'm also looking to launch my first micro SaaS this year. Wish me luck!
